Fun in the Kids Spot

Juanita and Peighton get a tattoo

and Peter gets a juggling lesson

Fun at the Art Fest!

........................... Peighton and Juanita explore a pipece called "ICARUS"

Peter and I went to the art fest in downtown Melbourne on Saturday. Our friend Juanita joined us with her granddaughter Peighton. Peter and Peighton found lots of interesting things to do there. Mom and Dad came down from Winter Park to walk around for a little while, too. The kids world was lots of fun...Peter learned to juggle, Peighton became wary of the balloon animals, and the two children had arepas for snack! Gary will be so very excited to see that the only purchase we made was some handblown glassware that reminded us of our diving adventures around the reefs. It was a fun outing for all!

another week almost gone...

Well, it is Thursday night and the boys are finally asleep. Gary called and he's on the way home from Orlando. We are trying to make a plan for the weekend...we both want to hang out and do nothing, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon! There is so much to do around the house, mostly outside. Hopefully it will be a great weekend for yardwork.
I have so much to do for the end of school. It will be here before we know it! Time is precious and I do not want to bring anything home...maybe I will make a better effort to stay late at school a few afternoons...
Next weekend Gary is off to upstate NY for another brain bowl with his winning team. The boys and I will try to get out to the Downtown Melbourne Art Fest which runs next weekend. The following week, Kelcey and I are off with the Hilltop Girls for our Crop-N-Cruise weekend. We are both looking forward to this soooo much.

Relaxation...

Here are some of the cards that I made. I find it relaxing to sit and work on my craft projects. They look better in person than in photos...The stamps are from Stampin'Up. I used In Full Bloom and Unfrogettable stamp sets and watercolor crayons to color the pictures. The cardstock is mellow moss, pale plum and very vanilla. The technique is Modern Grid as found in the April Technique Junkies newsletter.

Home alone with the boys...again!

Well, Gary left early this morning for a 3 day trip to the Keys with his students. Peter, Ben and I are home alone again! Ben and I had a lazy day of reading and watching movies, while Peter and Brady spent the day playing " kid stuff". I did relax and do some playing with my stamps...I made 11 cards for a swap! Yeah for me...not sure if that is exciting or boring...but it was relaxing for sure. Peter and I were supposed to go to a carnival at Wickham Park this morning in celebration of Autism Awareness Month but we never made it. Maybe next time...
We are supposed to get some cooler weather and maybe some rain tomorrow. Hope that the bad weather gets as far south as the Keys. When we get up and moving, I guess we will come up with a game plan.

My Newest Doggie

Here is a photo of my newest saved doggie...he came into our lives in late September. Ben named him BALOO, like the bear in Jungle Book. He is a beautiful chocolate lab mix...our vet thinks he is mixed with Great Dane, but we aren't positive. Baloo is always happy and keeps Thor company. We can't wait to see how much more he grows! The doggies are enjoying the nice spring, too!

Spring Planting

Sunday was such a beautiful day that we decided to do some much needed yardwork. Peter and I had gone to the nursery a few weeks ago and picked out some wonderful roses. We finally decided where to plant them. It was a pleasure to see him working so hard! Mission accomplished and a job well done. Here, he is planting our new "Don Juan" rosebush...beautiful deep red color and wonderful aroma!

I survived GRINDHOUSE....

Well...nobody can say that I am not a cool mom ever again!
Ben and I met up with Dakota and Anthony at the movies last night. We had awesome seats for what is probably going to become a cult classic. It had the perfect recipe for success---zombies, lots of ugly sores and rashes, raunchy characters and of course, a sexy vixen to save the day! Quentin Tarentino and Michael Rodriguez did a great job. If you are a James Brolin fan ( I used to watch Marcus Welby, MD just to see him) then you will be shocked to see that his son looks just like him! WOW--it was pretty freaky.
Anyway........the movie was a long one, and it was a double feature. The funniest thing was that there were a few movie goers in the audience who did not know the scenario and left after the first feature! DUH---DING!!!!!!!!! Lots of great actors had small roles in this movie, and it would be fun to see it again just to figure out who is there...I guess I will wait for it to come on cable though.
Ben and his friends think that I ROCK!!!!!!!!

Happy Saturday!

The boys and I were home yesterday. No school because of Good Friday. We puttered around the house in the morning, and they went to friends' houses for the afternoon. Gary and I actually got to take an uninterrupted rest together!
We heard cool weather was coming, but are always doubtful. A cold front down here in Florida usually means it will be 80 instead of 90 (hee...hee). But we woke to an absolutely wonderful morning, and are even keeping the doors and windows open. Pollen be vanished!!!! The dogs are having a fine time, galloping around the back yard today. They love the cool weather too.
Gary and the boys bought me some new rose bushes for my birthday this week. Peter is going to help plant them in the yard today. They have some fantastic foliage and huge blooms already! They picked out "Don Juan" and "Tiffany" varieties from a local nursery...the fragrance is perfect. Too many of the roses these days have the fragrance bred out of them due to allergies. Flowers are supposed to smell like flowers darn it!
Anyway....I am off to get some outside time. This evening, I have a date with some 15 year old boys who want to see the new Quentin Tarentino flick "Grindhouse". Not what I would have picked for a Saturday night out but they need to be supervised. Gary wouldn't be caught dead in a movie like this, so it's up to me to chaperone. TJ and Jody are going to try to get a sitter for Mike so we can all go together. I pity TJ if he comes, becaue he will have to put up with us girls gagging at all the zombie-puss I read fills the first part of the show!
Come back tomorrow for an update!

Trying to get the hang of this thing...

Don't laugh...I have been trying to figure out how to add photos to this blog...I was working on the kids computer before and could not upload photos. Here I am on my laptop, trying again. Hope this works!
Nobody ever said this was going to be pretty...(roflol)

Up and Running...finally

Believe it or not, I have been wanting to get set up with a blog since August. Things have been busy around here, and I finally got this done today, April 3! We just got back to school after a pretty quiet spring break. Peter hung out in the pool with his friends, Ben went to a few movies and caught up on his reading, Gary and David spent the week in the Caribbean aboard Explorer of the Seas while Gary acted as visiting scientist ( of course, they also had fun snorkeling and exploring the islands). I worked on some of my crafts as well as resting my sore ankle. In our house, the biggest adventure of the week was Peter running after the dogs as they escaped through the fence a few times...Loki enjoying the freedom of running down the street. Thor and Baloo were great and stayed around the house, coming inside obediently when called. But, the name Loki is fitting for him, as he is named after the Norse god of mischief!
