OMGoodness, cannot believe that Chanuka has come and gone already. Somehow, I just could not get into the Chanuka spirit this year. We were able to celebrate the first night with Ben and Teresa, but the other 7 nights were basically just us.

Secret Buddies Halloween Gift Swap

I keep meaning to post here, but I have been so active with work, hanging out with friends and everything else that comes with trying to keep busy. I love love love hanging out with the gals on Simply B Stamps Fan Group on facebook. They have lots of challenges, coloring advice, and fun chit-chat. It's like hanging out with crafting friends over the computer. This month, we had a secret partner gift swap. We sent packages to a buddy, and included only HALLOWEEN stuff in it. My secret pal was Betty Boo herself~~and boy did she send me some wonderful goodies. She included a gorgeous assortment of Halloween papers, rubber stamps from her collections, embellishments and of course a container of tootsie rolls!! The best treat is an amazing card from her :) THANK YOU BETTY BOO...I hope that your secret partner spoiled you as much as you spoiled me! I know that everyone who posted so far has been thrilled with their goody boxes! I really enjoy doing the swaps here, they are lots of fun.
I am having troubles putting both pictures up in the same post (thanks blogger) so I will post a pic of her card in a new post!

Amazing Halloween Card :)

So excited that I got a goody package from Betty herself! Silly blogger isnot cooperating, so I had to post pictures in 2 separate posts. Here is the amazing card that Betty sent me!

Halloween is Just Around the Corner

Can you believe that Halloween is right around the corner? The stores are celebrating in full swing already! I wouldn't mind, but the temperatures here in FL are still in the low 90's, lots of humidity, and we are having those crazy summer thunderstorms still. Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that Floridians need to start feeling the fall love too! Our friend Betty at Simply Betty Stamps is going gung-ho for Halloween too! This month's challenge was to do something 'Halloweeny' with Witch Mercedes (a wonderful sultry witch). I decided to get started on some test-tube treat holders that I will be giving to some lucky recipients. Some of them will be graced with Mercedes. Here is a photo of my first treat holder.

Summertime is for Mermaids

My friends at Simply Betty Stamps have done it again. Betty released some wonderful mermaids, just in time for summer fun! I have always loved mermaids, not sure why, maybe because they are mystical sea creatures. Here is a card that I made with Spika, the Bad Mermaid...I don't think she's too bad, just a bit seductive (like a siren). She has that 'come hither' look in her eyes! On this card, I used nestabilities for the frames, K and Co. embellishments, and paper that I had in my stash. She is colored with watercolor crayons....I just couldn't get my copic coloring to the point that I was truly happy with it yet. YES, I am my own worst critic, but aren't we all??!!

SUMMER fairy

I have been having lots of fun with the girls on the Simply Betty Stamps fanpage of facebook. We have lots of fun, chatting and sharing our beautiful creations using Betty's delightful images! This month's challenge was to make a background for this adorable SUMMER fairy! Here is mine. I colored her with watercolor crayons, tossed on some flowers and stickles, and put her on a paper pack I had in the craftroom. Hope you like her! You can buy her in Simply Betty Stamps store

Summertime Fun

It is hot and humid most days here in Florida. When we moved into our home over 17 years ago, many people said that we would get tired of having a pool. Well, our family gets as much use out of the pool as we did when we first moved in! We love the beach, but packing up our stuff and trudging over the sizzling sand is not always enjoyable LOL. Up until recently, Gary had a 'no dogs in the pool' rule, because of the fur in the filter. Well, I don't know what it is with men and these little doggies. Gary has let Lucy in the pool on at least 2 occasions! First, he was joking about finding a remote control boat that he could put Lucy into. No remote control boat, but we found an inflatable for a few dollars , and Miss Lucy loves it !!!!
I wanted to make sure that she could swim, if she fell in, so I used a trick from Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer)...and YES, she can swim! She looks really funny, and heads right to the side of the pool and gets herself out. Anyway, hoping that you are all enjoying your summer!

A new challenge

Betty at SimplyBettyStamps is kicking my butt these days! She is tossing out wonderful challenges over at her blog. This one was very hard for me, not sure if it was the color combo (yellow, orange, black, and white) or just having a tough time finding my mojo. After coloring about a dozen images, I finally came up with one that looks acceptable to me. The image is Lilliana, and she can be found at Simply Betty Stamps

Can't believe it's May already!!!

APril came and went with lots of craziness, some of it was good, and some not so good. We all survived and are strong! My poor blog is not getting visited as often as I want, because I just don't have any extra time these days. WHY not~~working parttime was supposed to free up some of that running around. Well, it has, but I can always find something more important (hanging with Peter, housework, yardwork, sitting outside reading :) household errands, and sometimes hanging out with my friends). Life is good in my little corner of the world. Although I haven't been able to get stuff done crafting, I have been learning more--especially with my copics. There are some free online 'classes' on UStream that I have been watching courtesy of Some Odd Girl lots of great things on Pinterest, and Betty has begun to have online classes at SimplyBStamps too HOpe all is great in your corner of the world!!! Hugs coming at you <3

Crafty Time at Last!!!! Hooray, I finally got an afternoon where I could hide in the craft room and get some cards finished. Chilling in the craft room, with some good tunes and the dogs hanging out with me, I was able to get 3 birthday cards done using my Magnolia stamps. I also needed to make some get well cards for my friend Kelcey, who is recovering from surgery. She and her hubby are in Georgia, not close to her home, so we have been sending cards every day. I found this adorable nurse image from Mo Manning---she is just perfect! Hoping that you had time to do something you love today too!
Time Flies! I can't believe that April is almost over. I promised myself that I would be a better blogger, but life is just busy sometimes. Some of the things keeping me busy these days are work (which I still love love love), hanging out a little more with Peter on the days that he doesn't have school, chillin' with our doggies, and trying to get some crafting time in. Crafting time for me has mostly been passive--by that I mean trying to learn new techniques through various online classes and video tutorials, and participating in some great groups online. Peter and I have also been trying to be outside, getting the yard ready for spring, and trying to get some plantings ready. Another thing that has been keeping me busy is playing with my new tablet! Gary knew that I have wanted one to use instead of lugging my laptop around, and so he asked Dave to help him figure out which one was best for me. Dave decided that he needed my help with the decision....and we decided on the Google Nexus 10. I am loving loving loving it!! In addition to using it at home, I am able to take it to meetings, classes, and even to clients homes. Hooray!!! Hooray Hooray---gotta love technology. This year Gary and I both celebrated a milestone birthday. We both turn 50~~people have been making age comments, but to us it is just a number, and another year that we have been successful in our lives. It seems to bother others more than it bothers us~REALLY!!!! The beautiful roses pictured above are from my Uncle Larry and Aunt Eileen--they arrived the other day with a note saying that 50 deserves to be celebrated for more than one day!! Could not agree more HUGS to all!!!

I have been having lots of fun with the gals over at Simply B Stamps Fan Group on facebook. It's like getting together with crafty friends whenever you have some time to chat and play! They have challenges and other fun things to do over there. I signed up to participate on their Valentine's Bucket Swap. The object of this is to share a Valentine crafty package with another member of the group. My swap partner is Katya, and it was fun to get to know her! She is amazingly crafty and made me the heart shaped box and filled it with amazing goodies! Today we are doing a blog hop to share the goodies we received. HUGS to all my SBS friends and hope you all have a super Valentine's Day!!!

Playing with some digis!

I have been having fun hanging out with the gals at Simply B Stamps fangroup on facebook. I just love love love Simply Betty Stamps and hanging with the fangroup is almost like being able to hang out together in person! We are not fortunate to have a place around where we can get together and hang out to craft together. I do plan get togethers with friends some evenings or weekends to play though. SOmetimes, you just need to hang out and get some crafty inspiration, or just a laugh or chat with friends though. One of the challenges we did recently was Steampunk Rio. It has been a long time since I picked up my copics and colored, but she didn't come out too badly Check back again to see what I am currently working on, and maybe even check out the websites (once I figure out how to put the links in the post...it wasn't working today :( ) .

She's BAA~~~AA~~~CK!!!!!

OMG~~~it has been so very long since I have posted. Life has brought many changes, but at the end of the day, all of these changes are for the better. My job as an early intervention specialist gives me more free time to help Peter (now 18) out with his college studies and other things, more time for the housewife stuff that needs to be done, and hopefully more crafty time! The past few months, my crafts have been terribly neglected as I dealt with family things. However, I have promised myself that I am going to dedicate time each week for my crafty loves (scrapbooking, cardmaking, and coloring with my copics). So far, I have been doing pretty well keeping my promise. To help me with this promise, I have been hanging out with some crafty friends online---more about that another time. I have begun to find my mojo again, and am getting into a better rhythm and schedule. I will definitely be posting more projects again.
